What is Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is generated from naturally replenished resources such as the sun, wind, water, earth, and other solids, liquids, and gaseous materials. Examples of renewable energy technologies include solar panels and wind turbines.
The world's population continues to grow and our country's energy consumption continues to increase. In order to meet the additional demand for electricity, we can continue to produce electricity through conventional or renewable methods.
| What Renewable Energy Can Do For You |
| Conventional |
Renewable |
| No financial assistance available |
Billions in Federal and State grants and tax incentives available to aid in project funding |
| Zero return on your investment |
Solar and wind power systems can provide positive return on investment |
| Unknown future electric rates |
Fixed and known cost for electricity produced by renewable energy over the lifetime of the system |
| Safety risk with nuclear energy |
Near zero safety risk |
Produced from a finite source, could eventually run out |
Is inexhaustible and infinitely renewable. Could provide all of our worlds' needs. |
| Cost of conventional electricity continues to rise |
The wind and sun are free |
By use of renewable energy sources, we can reduce the need for electricity produced from dirty
coal-fired or potentially dangerous nuclear power plants.
