- Going Green - Leading by Example
- The PV (3kW) Solar Power System went operational at the Company's Offices in Westlake, Ohio. This system is the first solar installation in the City of Westlake, and will reduce our carbon footprint as well as help demonstrate and educate our customers and the public on the effect of renewable energy systems.

- Lake Erie Electric Receives Safety Awards
- Lake Erie Electric received an Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation Special Award for its' safety record - operating over 750,000 hours without a lost-time accident. Additionally, for the second year, the Company received a Contractor Association Safety Award for safety excellence as a specialty trade contractor. This award is based on the Company's safety statistics, workers' compensation rating, and comparison to national averages.

- Community Involvement by Lake Erie Electric Employees
- Lake Erie Electric employees volunteered their Saturday evening to answer telephones for the Public Television Station (WVIZ). They appeared during the "Celtic Women" program and raised $8,800 during the two-hour broadcast.

- The Company successfully completed it’s external audit of its systems / procedures for ISO certification purposes and continued ISO certification for 2009.

- The number of "recordable" incidents year to date are down over 40% from the previous year.
- The number of "lost time" incidents year to date are down over 60% from the previous year.
